Hello friends, Romans!
I’ve been away for a while—but this space is alive again. From now on, you can expect regular updates, new projects, and plenty of behind-the-scenes glimpses from my illustrator’s desk. Let’s dive in!

For free subscribers: don’t worry, you’ll still get plenty of insight into my illustrator’s life. This space is for everyone. And I am thankful for your support. ❤️❤️❤️
Series Spotlight
📚 World on My Bookshelf
Every month, I’ll be sharing an illustrated children’s book from my shelf—collected on my travels or gifted by friends and family. Each book represents a different corner of the world, or a specific illustrator that I admire. And we are starting off next week! Are you excited? Because I am 😍. Each one of these books is very valuable to me and a treasure on its own.
🎵 Monday Studio Blues
On the first Monday of every month, I’ll host a cozy catch-up session. Think of it as an informal studio gathering: we’ll chat, share progress, and talk creative struggles. First session will be: October 6th! Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information!
✏️ Thursday Drawing Sessions
As you know, every Thursday evening, I host a free drawing session on Meetup—and honestly, it’s one of the highlights of my week. For two hours, I get to draw with other people from all over the world, and it always lifts my spirits.
The best part? We all start from the same photo, but the results are wildly different. Everyone brings their own approach, their own style, and their own way of seeing.
These sessions aren’t about “improving” or chasing some better version of yourself. My only goal is simple: to have fun drawing with others. For those two hours, I let go of perfectionism, let go of expectations, and just enjoy the act of making marks on paper.
It’s like a creative reset button—and I want to keep it exactly that way.
👉 If you’d like to join too, the sessions are free and open on Meetup.

Project Updates
✦ Digital Hug Zine
Earlier this year, I contributed to Digital Hug, a heartwarming project curated by Yuliya Gwilym . Fifty-five creators came together to share their illustrated recipes, raising €3200 for relief work in Gaza ❤️🍉❤️
This wasn’t just a cookbook—it was a collection of stories and keepsakes from diverse backgrounds, united by the desire to cook, share, and help. I’m so proud to have been part of it.

✦ WIP Comics Anthology 2025: ∞
I also joined the WIP Comics Anthology, alongside 60 brilliant creators. The theme this year was infinity—with each artist contributing an 8-panel story.
This collective has become a cornerstone of the UK small press scene, and being part of its eighth annual book felt like stepping into a creative family. The Kickstarter soared past its goal, and I’m already thinking ahead to next year’s anthology.

Work in Progress
Two books in progress. I can’t reveal much yet, but they’ll be with me through mid-2026. Think of this as the teaser trailer: exciting things are brewing! 🪄
Reels, reels, reels! I’ve started creating short videos about my process and inspirations. To see more, come follow me on Instagram.
Freelance Life
A little more than one year ago, I went fully freelance. I expected more freedom and drawing time (and maybe some invoicing headaches). What I didn’t expect was how much I’d grow—it feels like I packed five years of work experience into twelve months.
It’s been a roller coaster: thrilling highs, tough lows, moments of doubt, and moments of pure joy. What carried me through was discovering something simple but life-changing: be gentle and patient with yourself. Sounds simple but believe me it is difficult to apply!
That shift made deadlines less scary, my work more natural, and my process more forgiving. Freelancing is harder work and longer hours than ever, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s exhausting, exciting, terrifying, and deeply rewarding. And I’m glad I made the leap.
A Little Announcement
This post is the last one that will be 100% free. Going forward, posts will be split:
Free subscribers will continue to get updates, previews, and insights into my life as an illustrator.
Paid subscribers will see everything—images, behind-the-scenes extras, and the full version of every post.
This change isn’t about taking anything away, but about making sure I can keep this space sustainable while also giving more value to those who support me directly. Thank you for being here, whichever side of the paywall you’re on—I appreciate you all deeply.
Closing Notes
That’s what’s new in my world—and what’s ahead. Thank you for being here, for reading, and for supporting my journey as an illustrator. I’m back, I’m focused, and I can’t wait to share more with you.
Great roundup, Sevi!
